Main Responsibilities:
 
  • Supervises the manufacturing function of the Inventory Control department by monitoring the inventory of all components, raw materials, bulk, sub-assemblies, and obsolescence at Manufacturing.  Supervises specific inventory reduction action plans through the analysis of existing inventory, including phase-out and obsolescence;
  • Supervises the distribution of inventories by providing direction in the creation of shipments from contract vendors to the Corporate Warehouse and Distribution Centers to meet necessary inventory replenishment;
  • Supervises the excess inventory process to minimize obsolescence by routine review of the issues with Marketing, Planning, and Purchasing to drive the best plan to reduce obsolescence and meet the needs of Mary Kay China.   Through the excess inventory process, critical decisions are made regarding ways to utilize the excess inventory to drive down obsolescence costs. This requires balancing strategic goals with Marketing by presenting inventory information that impacts their decisions and investigating all possible scenarios and potential outcomes to develop the most cost-effective plan, thereby preventing costly errors from occurring due to miscalculations and timing.  Once a new plan is viable, monitors all activities to ensure inventory demands are secure;
  • Supervises the inventory control process for Manufacturing to ensure an inventory record accuracy of 98% or above.  Provides direction to staff to ensure the accurate consumption of Mary Kay China owned components, raw materials, bulk, and sub-assemblies in the manufacturing process for both in-house and vendor production.  Supervises the inventory accuracy process for all Mary Kay China held inventory, including overseeing the integrity of the counting and reconciliation process, and interfacing with the outside auditing firm to verify procedures and count;
  • Supervises the activities associated with providing inventory integrity and demand management for manufacturing production planning for all Mary Kay China products.  Provides input into the implementation of regular line and promotional forecasts.  Provides input into a requirements plan and provides updates for the sales-to-forecast variance.  Provides departmental support to Supply Scheduling and Planning to ensure that production schedules are meeting desired levels. Provides input at the review meetings on inventory purchases and forecasting with Marketing and Purchasing to ensure targets for inventory are considered and maintained;
  • Supervises the tracking process of all inventory receipts and shipments by product part number, batch or freshness code, and quantity to final destination.  Supervises the communication between staff and the Quality Assurance department when placing products on hold and returning if necessary.  Ensures that all communication between impacted parties is properly documented (relating to potential quality problems) to ensure that product in question is properly accounted for, isolated, and retrieved;
  • Provides direction to staff using established policies and procedures.  Ensures ongoing training and development of staff and maintains a safe, positive working environment for the department.  Selects, motivates, counsels, and evaluates the performance of staff;
  • Provides input into the development of operating plans, objectives, and related budgets for department.  Maintains expenditures within budget to meet objectives of department;
 
Qualification & Requirement:
 
  • Job requires a bachelor’s degree in business or equivalent plus 3-5 years of inventory control, automated inventory control, forecasting, manufacturing operations, and supervisory experience;
  • Must have analytical skills and knowledge of inventory management, including shipping and receiving, records management, inventory obsolescence, inventory planning, inventory replenishment, inventory tracking, and inventory integrity;
  • Must possess supervisory abilities in order to supervise department, provide guidance and direction to team, and to develop and motivate employees to reach goals and objectives;
  • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills to interface with management and staff;
  • Must be able to negotiate effectively with internal and external contacts and have the ability to monitor delicate situations tactfully, in order to influence decisions that impact Company bottom-line. Must have the ability to understand business needs and be able to plan the most cost-effective solution to goals and objectives, while balancing the needs of the independent sales force;

Compensation:The starting compensation will depend upon, among others, the individual’s experience, qualifications and current earnings.
